Update of the Evidence on Models of Survivorship Care, 2025
In 2011, the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO) in partnership with the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) developed and released the Pan-Canadian Guidance on the Organization and Structure (Models of Care) of Survivorship Care and Psychosocial Interventions for Adults Post-Cancer Treatment.
This 2011 guidance and related publication has been cited internationally in at least 40 empirical studies (42).
From September to April 2025, we conducted an updated review of the evidence to guide the development of evidence-based recommendations on models of care entitled, Pan Canadian Guidance on the Organization and Structure (Models of Care) for Cancer Survivorship: An Update of the Evidence for Adults (=>18) Post-Cancer Treatment, which is the focus of this report. The overarching goal of this 2025 guidance document is to provide an updated review of the evidence and evidence-based recommendations for the organization and structure of survivorship services (models of care) and implementation tactics that may support their successful uptake across Canada and perhaps globally
